EnCirca and .tels

Apparently, at the moment, I'm the only one to post on this forum.

A curious news.

EnCirca, ICANN-Accredited Domain Name Registrar, has among its extensions for sale also the .tel domains, with a dedicated page from where domains can be registered. (1)

At least this would seem, because when you type a .tel domain, the answer is an Internal Server Error: "The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request."

The fun part is that in the presentation page of this extension there is a Resource Center that redirect to old Telnic pages no longer existing and allows the  download of the Quick Start Guide and of The Guide to .Tel of 2009, together with the old numbers of the Telnic Newsletter (2009-2011)

If someone had nostalgia for the old version of .tel or had not known the possibilities of this extension before the change, could download the old manual of 2009 and maybe some newsletters, giving it a read. 

If only from 2009 there had been a minimum of development...

With declining registrations numbers, the interest in .tel is declining, too.

Only if the storage of contact information in the DNS will find a usage in the future, the interest could come back.

80,000 registered domains are not few. Click, email, nyc, news, guru, science, city, global for example are below.

The uniqueness of .tel domains is Telhosting and almost all of the developed sites use the Telhosting of Telnames. Very few people have developed normal sites using this extension, at least in Italy.
