TelTalk Forum goes from strength to strength ! Empty TelTalk Forum goes from strength to strength !

Post by mikeseaton 2012-11-03, 10:54 am

Here are the visitor stats for this forum at 2.45pm UK time on Saturday afternoon - hardly a peak time !

In total there are 41 users online :: 1 Registered, 2 Hidden and 38 Guests :: 2 Bots
Not Bad at all - the 2 Bots were Bing & Google - the 38 Guests show the value of having an "open" forum where newbies can just browse without the hassle of registration.

Of course some like to keep their forum content secret to guests - don't they Telnic - crazy or what when you are trying to promote a new idea ?

Alex has a lot to be proud of - this forum was only started a few months ago - now it's buzzing and the only place to go if you're interested in finding out the true situation regarding the .tel extension.

    Rock On TelTalk !

This is even more impressive, because to me it seems the general interest in the .tel extension is fading away.
But this could have several reasons:
    - The discussions at Telnic are restricted.
    - Telnic doesn't allow any discussion about the most wanted issue which is Telnames.
    - Customers can vent their anger here.
    - The recent topics develop a little bit into an economic thriller.

If you have a Twitter or Facebook account, don't forget to give TelTalk a plug every now and again to help keep people reading about .tel on this forum.

I've just done this at http://twitter.com/mikeseaton

Telnic must love Teltalk for the increasing publicity of .tel.
Now Telnic needs only to improve their operational business, and the publicity could even change from bad to good!

    Operational business?
    What operational business?
Currently there is no operational business at Telnic!
Hopefully they will reactivate operational business one day!
I doubt this will happen soon, because Telnic have cut all nonessential activities and they show no interest in revival!
They are not even reacting to the overwhelming, but justified criticism!

    Agreed !

Will Telnic seize the opportunity, sort things out re the Telnames template (even though the issue should never have happened in the first place), and bask in the reflected glory ?

Why should Telnic suddenly start to care? It seems the company exist only on paper since months.

Our users have posted a total of 3474 messages

    We have 99 registered users

The newest registered user is directtel

Most users ever online was 120 on Mon 1 Oct - 14:52
Who will be the 100th registered user on TelTalk - not sure what prize Alex has lined up for No. 100 ?

And remember for every TelTalk registered user (enabling them to post) there are many times that number of Guests who browse this open forum but don't post.

    We have 99 registered users
Some of them could be clones also, so the number of real users could be smaller.

I'm very pleased to welcome Boracay known as a very creative and active .tel community member here.

To celebrate the hundredth member duly, I will guarantee him (and all other forum members) free lifetime access to all forum content.

I also promise this forum will accompany the way of the TLD .tel during all upcoming times with difficulties, enhancements, increasing registration numbers and hopefully a great success later on while this forum will stay always public and uncensored (although sometimes it's hard to bear the amount of general criticism for .tel).

TelTalk Forum goes from strength to strength ! Empty Small but significant addition to recent desktop templates

Post by Boracay 2012-11-07, 8:10 pm

    Hi Alex.
    Thanks. That's all good.

Perhaps we will see some small but significant changes to the original .tel
It's a very slow turning wheel, and I have absolutely no idea if backgrounds will be coming.
...but just like our logos, surely we could reference a background image too.

    Such as
Barrack.tel (hope you don't mind using as example Dan)

I would swap out the background regularly too

I've never seen a better .tel than barack.tel (not barrack.tel).
No difference to other domain extensions. Nice!

    Alex, hi again.
Is it possible to read a thread in reverse? That is, have the latest entry show at the top of each thread, so that simply clicking on the thread topic shows the most current replies at top.
    Thank you

Only as an option, please. Do not force us to read in opposite way.

    Thank you for the suggestion.

Yes, it would be possible to adjust the general order of posts.

But for first readers as well for keeping the initial post as the most important on top, I guess the current order is more comfortable.

Sorry, but an individual setting per member is not possible at the moment.

Currently you have several options when opening a topic:

    • The topic headline will lead to the first post of the topic.
    • The small icon behind the latest author will lead you to the first unread post (or to the latest post if all posts have been read already).
    • The navigation in the module "Latest topics" will lead you to the latest post.

In telnics forum it was an option to read in reverse. Just curious.

Yes, that isn't comfortable when using your fingers instead of a pen.

Until I can provide an advanced solution, I recommend to zoom in the screen on iPads before trying to click the icon.

Teltalk has become the number one resource for .tel very quickly.
If you search for some detailed topics about Telnames on Google, you will be redirected to Teltalk while nothing about Telnames can be found at Telnic.
Very few people login into the forum at Telnic while a lot of guest are always online at Teltalk.
The number of posts at Teltalk increase steadily while very few new posts can be read at Telnic.
All news for .tel will be found at Teltalk immediately while the forum at Telnic is dying.

It's not difficult to compete with a forum that is locked and with a provider for the related product who avoids the support and all activities for communication and development.

Admittedly an uncensored discussion about .tel is possible now.
What worries me is the high amount of negative feedback toward Telnic. Maybe not the complaining people are the problem, but the impossibility to get any information from Telnic.
