This extension could instruct all browsers to bypass the Telnic servers
and use an alternative link, for instance the first website link placed on a .tel.
I recommend placing 2 links on the .tel:

    1. The destination website.
    2. A link to the browser extension for users who don't have it installed yet.
This would be legal and would eliminate all problems of the .tel extension.

    It shouldn't be that difficult.
    I know a guy!
Mike, after you have created www.telreader.com , are you able to create a browser tool to redirect a .tel to a .com, too?

@Sunrise - TelReader - still in the lab stage at the moment - was developed to build up the infrastructure for a possible Tel Global Directory, assuming that Telnic/Telnames continue to fail to deliver on this !

But it's not my highest priority these days - successful software developers tend to focus on environments that are rapidly growing - not rapidly shrinking !

Telnic/Telnames need to do everything possible to keep their "ecosystem" (or what's left of it) alive and thriving in the successful way that Apple, Microsoft, etc. still do.

But having been banned from Telnic's Forum (pretty quiet there these days I'm told) and more importantly my application to Telnames Affiliate Program refused (I could probably have sent them 100+ new Telnames registrants per month from the sole traders and small business owners visiting http://www.BoatSearchEngine.com alone) the question naturally asked is "Why bother any more with .tel development ?".

The jury's still out on the answer to this question !

It will be difficult to find an active developer after Telnic has chased them all off. It was a difficult start in 2009 and the years after Telnic did everything to make it even more difficult.

    1. Let your registrar set up a default name server for unused subdomains.
    2. Choose a subdomain. Best would be something like "www."
    3. Don't create this subdomain in the control panel from Telnic.
    4. Instruct the default name server to forward visitors to your .com.
    5. Instruct your visitors to use your .tel address including the subdomain;
      in this case: www. yourdomain.tel.
    6. Your .com will be opened.

I like this suggestion. Is it possible to build a separate data base where the redirection can be stored for a prefix or a specific string code like ww1.domain.tel or web.domain.tel?

I doubt this will happen soon. But should .tel ever gain a noticeable degree of popularity, it will be easy to redirect .tel to any other domain (with or without the help from Telnic). And it should be the norm to display a normal domain on a desktop and a .tel only on mobiles. It will be the opposite of what Telnames is trying already today: http://www.teltalk.org/t387-forwarding-mobile-users-to-your-tel-name
