What do you want?

I use mine to store all my credit card bank and password details. At least I know nobody else will ever find them.

No need to keep the data private, no one will ever find your telnames .tel anyway. Far safer than trusting it to MI5.

If a Telname would have folders, it would be better than a Telnic.

What can you do with a .tel domain ?

Use it as a cheap and easy way to input your contact data to the DNS that is then read and used in various forms (eg dial/email by name, local directories of tradesmen, personal interest groups, etc, etc) by third-party software programs.

BUT IT'S NOT HAPPENING ! - software developers appear not to be interested in writing software to access the DNS and extract and use the .tel data held there.

WHY ? - many reasons, but one of the first things a software developer considers is the size of the market and whether it is expanding or contracting - low user figures initially, but which are growing exponentially, are usually acceptable.

BUT a 4-year old product whose total .tel registrations are continuously declining ?

FORGET IT - the nearly 2000 new gTLDs will provide plenty of future opportunity - so why waste time and money developing for a shrinking market ?

AFAIK there's only one active .tel software developer left - if he left it really would be the end for the .tel project !

WHY did Telnic not take the nurturing and encouragement of the .tel "ecosystem" seriously ?

TOO LATE NOW I guess - what a shame and such a lost opportunity to change the way the world communicates !

The storing of easy to get at, PRIVATE data, is so important too these days.

I'm talking about passwords and usernames. I have a number of websites that I access from time to time (sometimes months will go by before I return to those sites) that I simply cannot remember the EXACT format of the password (sure it's mostly the same password, but the variation in requirements of each individual system requires a degree in cryptography)

And then comes the killer, 3 strikes and your out. Or how about "what's your favorite teacher?" Is that with a Capitol etc etc.

A perfect solution is to visit your personal.tel
Access private data,
Simply view your private list of username/password combos.

But telnames does not have private data.
It's a really important missing personal usage of your "tel NAME"
So I vote for....

Turn on "Private data"
Huge selling point for a telname.

The good things from Telnic are missing at Telnames while the good things from Telnames are missing at Telnic.
Has anybody ever found a logical explanation why Telnic founded Telnames instead of creating only one (!) useful template?

We know the pace of work at Telnic. So the next few years not a lot of things will happen.


One day Telnic will then have the brilliant and very surprising idea to just combine all the functions from Telnic and Telnames in one design (as discussed here since one year)!


Here is the interesting question: Will this design become ​​available to customers at Telnic or Telnames?
