Telnames today announced at The Business Startup Show that customers will shortly be able to connect their PayPal accounts simply and quickly with their Telname in order to set up mini pop-up shops, receive payment for services and take donations.

This valuable enhancement only applies to Telnames .tels - not the original Telnic subdomain .tels - anyone would think they had lost interest in "Pro Tel" !

This sounds a really good new Telnames feature - obviously we need to see how it works out in practice.

But if I was one of these 122 Telnic registrars I would be getting very ****** off with not being able to sell what is fast becoming the de-facto version of .tel ie. Telnames.

Definitely not! The announcement is very positive (for Telnames / not for Telnic), but I've heard it's possible to integrate shops and payment options into websites different than .tel, too. What's the novelty?
And this is not the main problem for .tel customers. The question remains if and how a Telname can be found on the internet !?

Does Telnic really want to play this game without improving the Google search results?

Telnames/telnic is not alone in moving on from google. Apple yet again today making a noticeable point to use BING for it's SIRI search data.

iOS7 looks pretty impressive. I hope telnic/Henri will implement ASAP the various new technologies. Please try to do something BETTER with the photos viewing experience on the iPhone!

The novelty I am assuming is that it's going to be a simple matter of entering values in a control panel to generate the payment integration.

The newbies currently registering many Telnames are unlikely to be experienced enough to handle setting up payment integration themselves without help from such a control panel.

Regarding the problem of Telnames being found (or NOT being found to be more accurate) I totally agree - a good start would be for Telnic/Telnames to deliver the promised Tel Global Directory to at least generate some SEO link juice and targeted traffic for Telnames .tel domains.

PS. Feeling in a good mood about some .tel progress actually taking place I even registered a Telnames .tel myself this evening - using the code OFF40 to get the price down from £24.95 to a more acceptable £14.95 of course !

Sellers/shop owners are already comfortable having a great deal of flexibility and choice in offering the products they know best, to sell into the markets they know best. A TOO simple an offering from telnames would probably still require an external shopping/store solution. (That's added cost)

Lets hope it is the killer app.
Need to be able to see GOOD HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT PHOTOS (within the telnames) ie without getting sidetracked from the easy shopping cart paypal point of purchase

Looks good, but there is a display problem with the currency symbol, at least when viewed on a Windows PC running IE 8.

This displays as a vertical rectangle rather than any recognised currency symbol - Telnames need to fix this as soon as they read this post - credibility is important !

Unlike www.miagos.tel the currency symbol of "$" displays correctly on www.solutions.tel but one suggestion to improve the user experience.

When you click through to the PayPal payment page the price is specified as CAD, but on www.solutions.tel with just a "$" symbol a user could easily assume the price was in USD.

Be interesting to hear from Mark when someone has actually purchased using this PayPal integration.

The new feature is very nice, but why everything has to be on one page? The overview for visitors would be much better with different sections (folders).
Perhaps the people from Telnames could talk to Telnic, so they can learn from each other. That shouldn't be so difficult, because they work in the same office.

As Justin Hayward said once he has no knowledge about the activities at Telnames. It would be a big step forward if the employees speak to each other.
Telnic could get the features from Telnames and otherwise. A combination of the two products from both companies would be an amazing result.

The separation of different features into two products from two companies has only disadvantages. No carmaker would have the idea to sell one car with wheels and without seats, but another car with seats and without wheels.
But why Telnic / Telnames think it's better to sell semifinished goods?

Shouldn't be too difficult at all, because not only do they work in the same office they are (just about all of them) the same people !

AFAIK Justin of Telnic doesn't have an official Telnames role, but if you look closely at photos of Telnames exhibition events you will usually see him there promoting the Telnames single-page .tel !

The idea that Kash, Henri, etc of Telnic don't have detailed knowledge of what Kash, Henri, etc of Telnames are doing is of course farcical !

Telnic and Telnames are ONE organisation split into TWO limited companies for the simple reason that a Registry (Telnic) is NOT allowed to also act as a Registrar (Telnames - technically a Reseller but in practice a Registrar) according to ICANN regulations governing the .tel extension.

If you look at the Telnames PayPal integration (example site www.solutions.tel) you will see that "Pay with PayPal" gives no indication that you can also pay with a credit or debit card.

Perhaps we could have an automatically generated statement saying PayPal also accept credit and debit cards as not everyone is aware of this !
