... until this quarter is finished. That means we are coming close to the most important event between April and June!

As you may have noticed during the last 15 months Telnic rarely speaks to the public.
The only communication from Telnic happens with the quarterly newsletter called .telegraph which should be published latest this week.

The most content usually relates to interviews of .tel owners, but sometimes Telnic gives a small outlook about software development.
Because of this the .tel community is always waiting tensely for this publication.

Since it has become quiet about .tel this is the most exciting moment in every quarter of the year. Every .tel owner is curious if .tel is moving forward or keeps standing still like in the past 15 months.

I still find it very ironic - the relative lack of communication from a company dedicated to improving the way the world communicates !

    Mike, absolutely!

If Telnic should do anything in the first place, they should stir the promotional drum - but nothing happens at all!

Tomorrow (Friday, 29th June 2012) is the last working day this quarter.

So keep the eyes open to read some news about .tel!

    The hope dies last!

The working week is almost over - and no newsletter is out so far.

If we don't see it until tomorrow, then it becomes clear Telnic has stopped all marketing activities for .tel completely!

After press releases, roadmap, forum, blog, homepage updates and even software development this will mean the shutdown of the last active medium from Telnic.

And this would happen even without announcement (what would be a slap on the face to all loyal .tel community members)!

This would also confirm the assumption from Mike that all activities have been switched to Telnames instead - without exception!

Maybe Mark knows something we don't !

But why does a Quarterly Newsletter have to be left to the last day of the quarter anyway
(i.e. Saturday 30 June) - assuming it is actually going to be published tomorrow ?

I've to admit I'm waiting for the newsletter, too! But perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if it wouldn't be published anymore. If some software development would be visible, it would be more important! But at least Telnic could tel(l) us what is the plan for the future!

They used to do that on the Roadmap and it was very useful - but sadly it was stopped without warning on 1 July 2011 - see http://www.teltalk.org/t145-the-long-lost-tel-roadmap-uncovered

Since most early .tel participants have dropped their domains, perhaps Telnic thinks there is no need to inform just the small group of believers which has become even smaller - so they just stopped any communication. The newsletter was intended for a big community - and this doesn't exist anymore!

    Rambo, You're right!

But we need to consider the team goes complete new ways with Telnames now!

After the community will gain new members, marketing activities will increase again, too!

And don't forget we just got a new Head of Marketing this month!

To be more precise, Telnames did, NOT Telnic, in the shape of http://MarkEllis.tel, who's official title is Head of Online Marketing - Telnames.

IMO that should tell you where the marketing of .tel is heading, it's probably the only course of action open to the .tel extension right now, it would just be nice if Telnic could formally clarify the situation.

Remember, Telnic have said nothing at all so far about why their CEO/CFO felt it necessary to form a new company Telnames Limited to produce a new template that was not going to be offered to all the existing .tel registrants.

To quote Aled Williams (Telnic's Customer Services Director) post on 11 May 2012 on Telnic's forum:

There were a number of comments regarding communication on another thread which as requested I attempted to move to a new thread. Unfortunately I seem to have deleted them in error. Apologies to all for that.

Having moved the posts I was, however, going to add with regards to the requests for comment that we communicate on a three-month basis to everyone in the newsletter. When we have an update that is where it will be done, to the whole community.
So that's where all the communication to us will be found - here's the link to check for publication

TelTalk, it really looks like there is no Q2 2012 newsletter going to appear in June !

The lack of communication by Telnic to .tel's most loyal supporters continues !

I'm sure it will, but by the time that day arrives .tel software developers and domain investors may well have run out of time and money !

Perhaps they are no longer needed and the .tel extension can survive without them ?

Maybe, but if so it will be the first domain extension ever to do so !

Just tried the June newsletter link http://telnic.org/newsletters/dottelegraph-jun12.html again, assuming the publication was delayed because the last day of June fell at the weekend, but it still returns "Page Not Found".

Disappointing - but somehow not surprising any more !

So I guess we must all make our plans on zero information from Telnic being made available to us re .tel's future - I'm not sure the newsletter would have covered this topic anyway !

One reason for the cancelation of the scheduled newsletter can be Telnic still doesn't want to comment the introduction of Telnames and the related strategy with it.

Perhaps Telnic / Telnames is just trying something different with the new offer and wants to know how it works out before it plans the next steps!

There are several unhappy bunnies over on Telnic's forum (you will need to login) at http://telnic.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2931 regarding the non-appearance of the quarterly newsletter which was due no later than 30 June. The obvious comment would be:

DO YOU NOT GET IT ? TELNIC/TELNAMES DON'T NEED YOU ANY MORE !

The truth is brutal - but better to recognise it and deal with it in your own way !

Click http://www.teltalk.org/t220-the-future-direction-of-tel to see where .Tel. is heading - whether you like it or not - so the choice is either adjust to the new situation ot start counting your losses.

I'm not overly happy about things either - but many years in internet marketing has taught me that PRAGMATISM RULES OK !

Yes, Mike! Sad as it is Telnic have noticed that the community couldn't help to lead dottel to success. So the logical conclusion was to kick them out!

That sounds a little bit harsh; most likely Telnic is struggling with its own confusion about building up a more successful strategy! At least they try something new with Telnames.

Since no announcement has been made about the release of Telnames and Telnic even stated they won't comment any activity of Telnames, it has become obvious Telnic won't continue the former ways of information. Since they never reacted to complaints, it's also clear they won't continue the direct contact to .tel owners. In the future everybody can just follow the development from outside, but Telnic's communication will be limited only to solving technical problems and answering "how to" questions, e. g. via customer support.
But their forum won't be reopened and we won't read press releases and newsletters in the future anymore. Doesn't matter if this is good or not, everybody has to accept the development will continue much slower - as it does since more than one year already.
