Cancel a registration?

Is it possible to delete a registered .tel name?
I registered one as a possible venture, but the other party turned out to be 'not so nice' and now I don't wish to retain the name.

when you say cancel, assume you actually mean prior to the registration renewal?
haven't come across any tld offering you a way to cancel. as far as I know you just let it drop or transfer ownership to someone else.

yes you can delete a domain from your account which means you are cancelling the domain name too.

The exact proceedure differs from registrar to registrar.
So the best bet is to contact you registrar.

If the domain name is interesting or a general type, just launch a small interesting content on you website and give away.

Hope this helps

i think i know 2 registrars

Onlinenic.com
dynadot.com

who have the grace period to delete domains within 2-5 days apart from that no registrar takes claims

If I am not wrong, I guess he is not looking for a refund.
Just want to drop/delete the domain name? then one can delete the domain name at any time.

I think he was asking for a refund or there would be no reason to cancel a domain i might be wrong since i see him online it would be nice if he replied

Since there is no way to point to a nameserver, I was mainly curious if there was a way to unpublish or delete the name.

No refunds required just a domain delete :)

Thank glad to know not sure any registrar does that

dotteler01-13-2010 03:44 PM

directi does have a method to suspend the domain. I did that and the name wouldn't resolve while suspended. I unsuspended and it did resolve again.
