Jens - As much as I am for anything that brings .tel to the attention of "Joe Public", in this case Telnic could not do what you are suggesting as a Registry is not permitted to offer services (eg. email services) that competes with their Registrars in relation to the TLD the Registry controls.

Jens, bar some of the generic terms you highlight, as we have stated numerous times, the geographic .tel domains are reserved by ICANN, as are ccTLDs, so these are not allowed to be used.

Mike, thanks for responding on the email issue, which has also been highlighted many times in the forum.

It would be difficult to achieve without annoying our existing channel partners who base their business on commercial offerings such as this.

What I would hope for first is a partnership with a registrar with the foresight to expand the tel market. Registrars have the infrastructure to support such tel services as free email. But I'm sure willing to partner with a registrar to provide other tel-centric services including a contest.

Surely one of the problems with offering free services, is while it is free to the consumer it costs to the provider.
These seem to be have dealt with in the past by paying for the service via advertising or introducing other services linked to email.

However this is a huge undertaking. The other issue is once people provide there .tels for all to use they in effect limit any sale of the domain in the future unless sold as a business with the email commitment.
