What kind of .tel domains I should buy?

Since I'm a little bit inexperienced I apologize if I haven't chosen the correct category for my question. I like the DNS concept behind .tel domains and think they will look very nice if they become more advanced in the future. I made some research about .tel domains which are still available and found uncountable possibilities to register. Since I don't want to spend too much money and rather pick a small but good selection, I would like to know what .tel domains would be the most interesting kind for investment purposes, e. g. geographic domains, short generic terms, industry sector names with high traffic and click rate, people names or something different. What is your opinion about choosing .tel domains in relation to future value increase?

    Welcome Live,
I only buy .tels I can develop, not for investment. However, there are some great guys on here will give you some good advice, sales thread should be interesting for you.

    Anyway welcome to .tel community.

@live, if you are an expert in a particular area, try to find domains that suit your expertise. The use of phrases is good too if you are interested in domains for a product or service in a particular area. Tel domains are ideal for these "long-tail" search keywords. There is a great selection of generic names still available. If you want to narrow down possibilities, search TelDomains.co (my site) by topic or geography and for recycled names. They get bought through name.com for only $10 each.

Good advice given by posters above.

One further suggestion, if you need a sister site (where there are no restrictions as to what you can do) consider a ".co" domain - here is an example of how I have linked up a .tel domain http://DNSales.tel with it's equivalent .co domain http://www.DNSales.co

if its purely an investment play, having sold circa 1,000 .tel domains over the last few years, I can say that pure exact geo's and professions/services fetch much much higher prices vs keyword phrases.

there's still a bunch that drop now and then so keep an eye out here: http://buyatel.com
if there's a name you're interested in following/tracking, the service allows you to monitor the name and be alerted should it ever enter the drop cycle.

there's also usually several sales thread where some fab generics go for very cheap prices (beats paying a drop catch service fee to secure the name!)

Also my sister domain http://businessdirect.co that forward to my http://businessdirect.tel
or my http://supercyberheroes.com and http://supercyberheroes.co that forward to my http://supercyberheroes.tel

By the way I thinking to contact mark probe to see if he can help me to build my sister web: http://businessdirect.co I will try to do so by December or January, I got some ideas to build up my .tel domains through my sister web; http://businessdirect.co but all my .tels will be display through my businessdirect.tel

    See you around

Some sound advice here. It really does depend on your interests and strategy
Plan what you want to buy and who would be willing to pay for it from you
    Don't go reg crazy
Plan to hold for a realistic amount of time with out sales

One thought I have for you is don't buy to many just now as there will be a huge selection of higher quality domains in the drops next year after the initial 3 year landrush domains start dropping ..

Thank you very much for the very valuable feedback and the nice welcoming! I'm wondering why so many excellent keywords are not registered yet or have been dropped. As you guys pointed out for the price of only $ 10 it should be possible to make more money than that with .tel domains in the future, e. g. by using affiliate networks. Due to the SEO benefits of .tel domains it should be possible to generate at least a few leads, even .tel domains haven't seen their breakthrough yet.

Does anybody know the reason why people don't keep their .tel domains if they own unique and excellent keywords? What is your guess?[/size]
