This is just me, I'm really ambivalent about this type of stuff, could be helpful with links I suppose, mind you I do like the look of the site and agree about the 1000 word viewpoint.

yea looks good. infact about.me was sold to AOL recently i hope someone comes and buys sum .tels as well atleast might bring an interest in people.

thats a great idea especially on the domain usage

Now a lot of names are available there. I took for myself one name. Then read its Terms of Service:
    Quote:

    Services Fees Payment

Currently, about.me is a free service. We maintain the right to change that at a later date. Pumpkinhead reserves the right to change the payment terms and fees upon thirty (30) days prior written notice to you. Services can be canceled by you at anytime on 30 days written notice to Pumpkinhead.

    AOL Acquires About.me

    Quote:

The startup, which launched Dec. 16, lets people build a kind of online business card that links to all the social networks a person belongs to, as well as the user's email, personal blogs and more. Garlinghouse said the single profile pages that people create present an advertising opportunity for AOL.

Looks like just another basic acquisition for riding on the bandwagon that Telnic is all ready pushing out with regards to contact cards.

I have one from beta http://about.me/bunjie but I'm not impressed with its layouts and half abandoned it, I all ready had .tel so I only really signed up to keep my username incase it became popular.

With stats on .tel and more themes and other such additions, I doubt much can beat a .tel unless it's pumped out as free, people just need to understand .tel more.

If you click on Twitter or Facebook icons you get a pop open with a number of tweets, images and such

This I all ready asked with regards to the below post for absorbing Linked-In recommendations and dumping them into the DNS and spiting them out in a modified web link/Google maps drop down box:

    http://telnic.org/forum/showthread.php?p=11997

Please move in this direction, it's logical.[/size]

If Telnic would have his own button on this service and other similar services? May be it is possible to propose the owners of such services the mutual exchange of buttons in Telnic's panel and in panels of such services?

Its a very graphical appeaing and selling design. Something that wows, and draws people in, and its free.
Ofcourse .tel is your own top level domain name and as such looks more pro and can be used for much more with your own folders etc.

    Cees12-27-2010 08:38 AM

If you read the conditions, I seem to recall it's free for the moment and will move to paid model sometime in the future.

thats a really great interface for directory based .tels

for now, all the data is in the .tel dns database etc, but there are just too many clicks for a viewer to get to relevant data via the text based proxy. well, there needs to be so much more flexibility in the cth, on/off options, and we need little icons etc that could be displayed next to other data.

on the one hand, anything to improve the web browser interface would be welcome.
on the other hand, if your hard at it (like me!) building an app to better arrange/present the .tel data, then your likely to get burned in a few months anyway. arghhhh. wish i knew what the new cth will bring.
