Integration Code Out-Of-Date

The ability to integrate Dot Tels within a normal web page is a great idea, but the current code is out-of- date - It does not show one of the most useful features introduced recently i.e. Custom Labels on web page links.

Have a look at http://mikeseaton.tel/ and then http://hosted.telnic.org/cgi-bin/con...mikeseaton.tel - you will see on the latter that the Custom Labels all have the same wording "Web Page" i.e. as it used to be some time ago.

Telnic, can we please have the integration code brought up-to-date?

    Thanks.

    Mike Seaton

    Mike, Love your site.
You may be able to use this link, it has nothing to do with the sale of ships/boats, but would be of interest to any sea going folks.

They have yet to fix URL masking

    Quote:

    Go to
    alexa-ranking.mikeseaton.tel

    Is supposed to be

    Quote:

    Goto
    Alexa Ranking

    Good catch, Mike, thank you.

The code does support labels for other types, see custom labels for sub-folders at http://hosted.telnic.org/cgi-bin/con...ain=telnic.tel

I have requested that the engineering team apply the same behaviour to web links.

The notes "title" e.t.c aren't showing as well, they just show blank, the stuff in the Value box shows but I use the title space to put the content as I likebold text, as opposed to the weaker green/blue turquoise for content "value".

    Hi Cees,

Thanks fot the compliment - I played around quite a lot with the Telnic templates and the Google AdSense formats before I got a look I was happy with.

Re http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/ it looks a very useful resource for those into marine traffic movement - I have checkedhttp://www.easywhois.com/?domain=marinetraffic.tel and note that the Dot Tel is not registered - here's an opportunity for someone!

    Hi Nadya,

Thanks for your prompt response - I look forward to the web links fix being available.

Hopefully your software engineers can also address the issues raised by Bunjie at the same time.

This integration code offers a great opportunity for users to directly access the DNS data without needing a significant techie background - it will be interesting to see how it gets used for applications other than just incorporating your own contact data in HTML pages.

    Hi Nadya,

Thanks for getting the Web Links fixed, but there are still some issues outstanding when you look at http://hosted.telnic.org/cgi-bin/con...mikeseaton.tel and compare it to the original data on http://mikeseaton.tel/

    1. Internal Go Tos are not displaying their custom labels e.g. Go To "alexa-ranking.mikeseaton.tel" should say Go To "Alexa Ranking".

    2. The icons no longer line up with their corresponding text - by the bottom of the page they are way below their correct position.

    3. First Name & Last Name are shown as merged fields rather than seperate.

Hopefully these points can be rectified soon - it is important for a professional image that when displaying integration data it matches the original data displayed on the domain.

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Mike,

Thank you for your input. The Go-to value idea is great, I'll pass it on to the engineering team, as well as the vertical spacing glitch.

Re Name, I'm not convinced this is a bug. Yes, the presentation of "Name" slightly differs on the proxy and on the embed view, but the latter has been purposefully made more compact to fit into an iFrame window, not an exact match to the proxy view of the domain. It also presents the same data as your .tel, there's no discrepancy there.

Summing up, I personally think the Hosted service is up to date now with a couple of improvements on the way. We will continue working on it, but further changes may have lower priority than other development work we're all talking about.

Thanks Nadya, these were the 2 key issues I was keen to get resolved.

I am developing some software which will be using Telnic's integration code, hence my desire to make sure everything is OK.
