Pending delete clarification Telnic, Does this statement apply to .tel? "Pending Delete" as it applies to .com and .net domains refers to the final 5-day timeframe after Redemption ----------- I've looked around and am not entirely sure of the facts as applied to .tel I see a few .tel domains that were registered on march27 that are now saying "pending delete". Are they now in the final 5 day period before the "drop"? Thanks. I searched, but am totally confused. Please direct me to a thread if already answered. |
Boracay - I appreciate it's confusing. I've tried to explain in this thread - http://www.telnic.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1606. As you can see, a .tel will be in pending delete for 35 days before it is deleted. Also, most .tels do not enter pending delete on their expiry date. Let me know if you have any questions on this. |
http://dottel.net - will correctly list the daily drops except those that enter hold status. We're currently exploring a fix for this condition too. More when that's available. |
So I see a .tel that your service SAID dropped on may 1st, (yet i get this today from the telnic .tel whois) btw, it was just a random pick! Domain Registration Date: Tue Mar 24 2009 Domain Expiration Date: Wed Mar 23 2011 Domain Last Updated Date: Fri Apr 22 2011 Domain Status: clientHold Domain Status: clientTransferProhibited Domain Status: pendingDelete Is that what you mean about the service collecting incorrect data? Boy, this drop game a lucky dip or what |

thanks Aled, I read that thread. you say this: "At the end of the 30 days there is a 5 day deletion period where nobody can redeem or purchase the name" So, does this special 5 day period actually show as something different to "pending delete"??? seems logical to classify it as something else, that would surely end the mystery. and then you say: "At the end of the 5 days the domain will be “dropped” and available to anyone to register" Is there an exact time, in GMT so that buyers around the world know when to attempt to re-register? thanks for the info, I am very interested in some more .tels cheers |

As you can see the status includes clientHold - this means that it was held and will not be dropping 35 days after it was removed from the zone file. As mentioned a fix is in the pipeline to monitor clientHold domains and report correctly when they drop. Except domains which enter clientHold, all other drops are correctly monitored and reported in the daily drops on http://dottel.net Hope that clarifies the situation? |
Boracay, It actually stays in the "pending delete" status throughout this 35 day period, but I take your point and will see if there is any way of changing this for the last 5 days. With regards to the actual drop time, this is approx 18.30 GMT daily. thanks |
Thanks Aled and thanks dottel |
Thanks All. Good to know. |

Any news please on this front Aled? |
No, not yet, boracay, we're still looking into it. I shall let you know if anything can be done. |
fyi - we've built a new site that will track the drops daily and tell you accurately how many days left till it drops. hopefully that will give you the info you want. its currently in internal testing stage and data loading with daily drops, will post a note here once its ready for general use. |

Good news for the .tel drop catcher. Hope this will also have the direct linking to the registrar. Regards |
I already got 5 .tel domains at auction. Let see how it's going now |
nice - there are some absolute bargains dropping so a chance to pick up some really fantastic names. my pick of todays drops is probably beers.tel see: http://dottel.net/daily-dot-tel-drops#drops |
boracay, It appears that there is a difference in how the WHOIS is displayed if a .tel is in this last 5 day period of deletion where it cannot be restored, but we are not currently including this in the output shown on the WHOIS page on telnic.org. We'll look at what can be done to rectify this, but in the meantime you can hit the WHOIS service directly through our browser. For examples: http://whois.nic.tel/whois.cgi?TLD=t...h=Submit+Query The domain status for this is "pendingDelete (SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE) ". This means that it is in the last 5 days and can no longer be redeemed by the owner. Another Example http://whois.nic.tel/whois.cgi?TLD=t...h=Submit+Query Here the status is "pendingDelete (RESTORABLE) ", showing that it is in the initial 30 days and as such can be redeemed by the owner. To search for different names, just change the "dn=" in the lookup string. As mentioned, we're looking into what can be done on the telnic.org output for a more workable solution. |
Fantastic Aled. Now I can stop looking everyday! |
