Cookies

Does a .tel site employ cookies in such a way as to require users to give consent before use (EU Legislation - effective this week, refers?

good post - was going to write something about this myself too. problem is when we add google analytics we are effectively having cookies stored so for tel sites to be compliant they should ask for consent. There are several ots scripts that can be added to the web proxy to address this.

the general view is that it will take a while to be adopted and the enforcements will be generally warnings initially along with advice on how to apply scripts/etc

alternatively the telnic servers could be switched to non UK based servers and consent wouldn't be required (i believe - need to double check this though).

Thank you. I'll give Google the sack from the few sites I deployed ads on.

I would personally resent making any TelProxy changes to comply with such a stupid law.

I'm already sick of all these cookie policy notifications, particularly as I periodically delete ALL of my browsers cookies; including the cookies that state whether or not I have consented to cookies! I am therefore confronted with requests for my consent over and over again!

It's a complete nonsense. If everybody just ignored it then the ICO probably wouldn't bother enforcing it.

When did the Jobsworths in our Gov't ever miss an opportunity to enforce a mindless and petty law that was promulgated by the pompous, malleable, expenses fiddling gits from the EU bureaucracy?
