Maximka, are you trying to get rank for the avatars or the content? I am not sure how exactly you have arranged both sites. But if you are concerned about the duplicate content, you can use 1. Canonical tag http://googlewebmastercentral.blogsp...canonical.html 2. set nofollow on one of the url hope this helps[/size] |

maximka I wouldn't worry about there being any penalty for using the same URL for an avatar, search engines will not penalise you for this. Its all about link juice. (see http://thekeywordacademy.com/link-juice-explained) The more links you have, to your .tel, especially from well-linked places, the greater your visibility and web page rankings become. The link (or URL) to your avatar (which I assume is held at http://www.webasyst.net/) is just passing a little of your link juice to them. It's good to share. Of course what would be even better is for that link juice to pass to another of your sites. I hold the Logos and images (what you call avatars) for my .tel on a web based site of mine, and link to that so that little tiny bit of link juice from each page goes to another of my sites, not someone elses. But in essence, don't worry about it being counted as duplicate content, that's nonsense. Nor can it considered to be spamdexing (seehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link_farm). Hope between us we can put your mind at rest, There are thousands of .tels with the same avatar on every page, (dialaroom.tel has well over a couple of a thousand pages with the same avatar URL on it, and has a Toolbar PageRank of 3 from google, so I don't think it's being penalised. |
