Massive New Reg of NNN.TEL Domains !

Checking http://d0.telpages.com/latest.action to get the latest .TEL registrations I note that VSP Communications of Japan has been massively registering NNN.TEL domains !

Here's just one example - http://www.whois.com/whois/734.tel

Nice to see such confidence in the new .TEL business model starting 13 March 2017 (as specified at http://www.tel.community/t4467-important-news-for-all-tel-owners-and-community-members#15945)

Registering so many domains makes only sense if the registrant has the patience to wait for 10 years in case .tel should become successful.
Anyhow, it's a risky strategy!

@Expert - my guess is that VSP Communications of Japan have looked at the huge cost of obtaining (by buying on the resale market) NNN domains and have decided to get in now before liberalisation of .TEL DNS on 13 March 2017 enables NNN.TEL domains to operate like NNN.COM domains.

Unfortunately we are dealing with a big difference:
.com has about 126.000.000 registered domains.
.tel has only about 100.000 registered domains.
It would be a long way until .tel could achieve the same prices.
Even in case that .tel would gain momentum, this is a long shot.
After so many years, are there still people who think that .tel will be as successful as .com?

Not me - but many would happily settle for NNN.TEL domains being worth just 1% of the unbelievable resale values that NNN.COM domains achieve !

My focus now is on prime keyword (single or double) .TEL domains with a clear commercial contact purpose to help the domain owner dominate a business niche e.g. FX.TEL (awaiting 13 March launch in Telnames-format) is a good example.

I may also consider .TEL domains that could be used to make a "normal" web site, where all the domains of this name on the major TLDs are already taken.

Of course .TEL domains combining the above two criteria are potentially even better from 13 March 2017 !

VSP Communications is likely one person, the same person that was linked too before for the templates thread, vsp.org

This thread at first glance makes it seem like a massive telecommunications company bought loads of domains.

I did think all NNN.tel were all raged just like LLL.tel 
is they a list of what is available?.

one other thing I would ask some on here have been holding there .tel for some years
have you still got your best.tels or have you dropped them ?.

I dropped 50/50

I think telnic did nothing in the hope that some domainers would drop there names in fact I think telnic picked some up

It is interesting variant.

I dropped palma_tel, now it is shown as registered but Whois shows nothing for that TEL. The same thing with few more domains. How someboby could make this trick if not the registry?

But on another side, for example, amber_tel, which from the beginning was in possession of Kash (Telnic's boss), was dropped - though (in my view) it was a very good domain.

I dropped most of those TELs, which I thought to keep as investment - may be 80% of my TELs I dropped. Most of them were very good, and it was pity to drop them - but I dropped them because you can't keep all you want for 10-20 years ahead.

In case with TEL, for healthy financial (and psychological) living, not the greediness but modesty should be a virtue. ; )

But I still keep few TELs, which I use for my little businesses or hobbies.

I think that in the spring (due to Telnic's news) we will have very good, massive TEL drop. I have a hope to pick up two-three TELs I want from these dropping TELs.

I own 190+ NNN.tel domain names. Also own some NN.tel

Buyers will be from China. 
Chinese love numeric domains, also they own some NNN.tel already. eg. 110.tel, 111, 113, 117, 126, 137...etc.

It's true that the domain market is influenced strongly by China.
But why should they buy .tel domains?
Like any other domain buyer they have thousands of options with the new domain extensions.
Why should they not buy NNN.online or NNN.shop instead?

.tel is short and generic like .com, .net and .xyz
For your information, I sold 290 numbers of NNN.xyz domains to Chinese for $$$$$$ and after my sale, the market price increased up to 10 x times. 
I own some keyword domains too...eg, flights.tel, cruises.tel...etc, but I believe in NNN to make money.

in few year they will have big value in my mind.


I think name like movie.tel movies.tel don't really span the dot and make no sense but NNN.tel or names like call.tel,
do. that were maybe the money is and if you can host yourself godaddy might start selling them

Thank did not notice that thread.

Just now I looked Whois for NNN TELs, from numbers 400-420 and 440-500.
 
In this row only 500_tel was taken by somebody from China.
 
The rest from these numbers keep few persons (most probably domainers) from other parts of the World:

Of course, may be people from China bought another numbers, I did not checked the rest NNN. But the checked TELs do not show that we have a boom of NNN - the owners of them are solely domainers.

I checked 100 domains, 101 to 200, found 38 domains registered by Chinese.
Most of the NNN names registered before .tel news and hope more Chinese buyers will be in the market after .tel registry remove development restrictions..
