Interesting development, check out the list of influential partners at the bottom right of http://www.starstar.co/about-us and ask yourself why these Telcos haven't done a deal with Telnic for DNS lookup of .tel phone numbers ?

I know the answer - but it's a good question for .tel newbies to figure out for themselves !

Why? Dialing " name.tel " is much more comfortable and logical than dialing " **6263 ", isn't it?

AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint should be first choice for Telnic to partner with.
If Telnic want to enter new telephone markets, they need to move into this area instead of playing with domain business where other well-known services are better with.

No prices are published yet: http://www.starstar.co/about-starstar/pricing_service
But an indication is detectable in their video:

Because telnic wanted/expected name dialing for free? as a phone addon and this service gives a "cut" of it's profits to those telcos?, telcos are only really interested in profits and I would guess this being an independent website service, deals could be struck that they don't allow such things on such and such competitor networks and the telnic version would be available to everyone so it's no use to profit driven scummy networks who want to have a one up to attract customers by saying we support X Y Z where as other networks don't! (small print = because we don't let them).
    .
And besides it's easer to buy out a service like that and strangle it away from competition, telnic has baggage and is available to everyone so no phone company would buy out telnic unless it was forced to do a BT and like with exchanges unbundle them for rival networks to be fair or what ever, point is telnic is for everyone aka universal and that website addon what ever is easy to buy out and restrict from other networks if it becomes popular.
    .
It's all about money, not about helping customers or about helping support a universal idea/service.

The new price is similar to a .tel name: $2.99 per month (excluding taxes and surcharges)
In comparison I would like rather a .tel name (if it should provide name dialing).

IT WON'T - WITHOUT CRITICAL MASS first being achieved - that has been made absolutely clear in a post about .Tel Phase 2 by Henri Asseily (Chief Technology Officer of both Telnic and Telnames).

So you need to work out how to get .tel to Critical Mass if you ever want Telnic/Telnames to be successful in approaching Telcos and persuading them to make the necessary system changes for .tel name dialing to become reality !
