    FORUM SHUTDOWN Empty FORUM SHUTDOWN

Post by Alex 2012-10-15, 2:58 pm

Mainly I have created this forum for the following reasons:

    • Collection of suggestions for improving the technical platform of .tel domains
    • Increasing the popularity of .tel domains
    • Creative and cooperative exchange of information from all people interested in .tel domains

Due to the massive criticism against Telnic’s business strategy it seems to me those intentions can’t be served.

I’m getting doubts that TelTalk.org is doing anything good for .tel.

I’m considering a lock-down for this forum until 31st December 2012 to give all parties the opportunity to reconsider their thoughts, plans and activities regarding .tel:

    • As I have always promised I won’t censor any content as long it goes along with our forum rules.
    • I won’t delete the forum TelTalk.org. This platform will be alive for the future.
    • All content will stay visible for the public.
    • Only new entries won’t be possible temporarily.

This would happen to avoid the following:

    • Further escalation of the confrontation between Telnic and their customers
    • Further damage of the public image about .tel domains
      Plus:
    • Waiting for the technical improvements which will display a much better picture of .tel domains

.tel is a great technology and certainly you agree it is not worth to destroy it only by pointing out the mistakes from the past!

Since I take the opinion of all forum members serious, I won’t make this decision myself.

To avoid any manipulation of this poll, only forum members are allowed to vote above.

This poll will run for one week until 21st October 2012. In correspondence to your feedback this forum will be locked for the rest of the year or everything will stay like it is.

    It is up to you!

My opinion about critics on Telnic's policy at this forum is that it is always better when provider of a service knows the real situation with it's product. It is not an attack of clons or paid posters who want to destroy Telnic. These are voices of it's customers who ask Telnic to do a very simple thing: to make it's product attractive and useful for them and, possibly, for many millions of other people in future. I think that this desire is a very natural thing.

The good intentions of this forum were hijacked by others. Respectful criticism is what is needed not constant trashing.

    I don't see only criticism.
I see a lot of suggestions for improvement, a lot of creative input and a lot of enthusiasm for Telnames, too.

I may sound bad, but for me, you can lock-dow this forum temporarily.

"Telnic is c.r.a.p., Telnames is gold"

This forum has become an appendix to Telnames advertising.

The matter has become monotonous. Only critics to Telnic and praises for the new Telnames template.

I think it is better to use our time for developing our sites, trying to make .tels useful for netsurfings.

Nice it is visible to everyone.
People who wrote about Telnames never mentioned anything negative.
It's all about the old website design from Telnic.

I don’t know how many members from Teltalk have been forum members at Telnic before.
Those members should have known Telnic have their fixed strategy and can’t be dissuaded from it.
The only option everybody has is to accept their product as it is and work with it.

    Wow !

I've been away from base today, just logged-in, and I see TelTalk is talking about a forum "lock-down".

Where have I heard that phrase before ?

IF TELTALK GOES THE SAME WAY AS TELNIC'S FORUM, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR NEWBIES (WITHOUT REGISTERING, WHICH MOST WON'T DO ON A CASUAL 1ST VISIT) TO FIND OUT ABOUT .TEL, THAT REALLY WOULD BE THE END OF .TEL !

Fortunately a look at the poll result shows sanity is likely to prevail !

Can it be that Teltalk doesn’t really think about locking the forum, but he only wants to remind of what is best for .Tel?

This certainly isn’t the case with TEL.
Companies registered TEL to protect their brands and investors bought them in the hope the promises for new communication solutions would come true.
But I doubt it clearly people registered TEL in 2009 because they liked the first template so much.

There are more options, not only one:

    1. The first one is as you say "to accept their product as it is and work with it"
    2. The second one, is to wait and do nothing, until Telnic will do template with proper design.
    3. Reduce number of your TELs and drop the bigger or lesser part of them.
    4. Increase the number of your TELs in hope that one nice day Telnic will be bought by another company or Telnic's policy will be changed to a one more favorable for TEL development.

If taking a look at the current domain holders, actually it's possible to find a lot of people for every type.

FORUM SHUTDOWN Empty Re: FORUM SHUTDOWN

Post by Alex 2012-10-18, 3:50 pm

Thank you very much for your comments and votes on this topic!

For me it is very important to know what the forum members are thinking, because I created this forum for you and not for myself!

Also this topic has increased my understanding for the difficulties Telnic have been facing with their own forum.

Anyway I would like to handle this issue differently than them, because a public forum should work in the interest of their members and not in the interest of one party only.

Even before the end of this week it has become very clear what the majority of forum members wants.

Since the result of the poll is obvious, the topic of locking this forum is off the stove for all time.

As before the content of TelTalk will be arranged only by the members.

I hope criticism won’t be the dominating factor, but it makes no sense to forbid it either.

But I want to remind you about one more thing:

I’m asking myself how explicit I have to be.

If you want to gain anything good from your investment for .tel, you should consider rather keeping silent than shouting out all your anger about it.

You should learn a lesson from forum members like mikeseaton, fustachio, kprobe, Telnamer, maxi, silvano, Tely, Moonlight, ntervu, allvipdomains, Artaban and TELcp, only to name a few.

They also haven’t been always happy about every development, but they have learnt to deal with it and write rather constructive comments.

Thank you once again for your understanding!

I’m sorry, but probably you have opened this forum at a disadvantageous time.
    But you're right!
Before discussing only awkward topics it’s better to wait and see, because Telnic have shown they won't change anything in response to customer feedback.
And who knows; perhaps Telnic know even better what the best strategy is.

I don’t think the time is disadvantageous, because .tel is evolving (see Telnames).
The problem is some mistakes have been made in the past and they have never been clarified.
But that doesn’t mean we are going in the wrong direction now.
