    ...well almost !

Net-Link Tel Search uses the Google database to generate its search results.

According to http://www.dottel.net there are 3,023 Telnames .tels registered.

Clicking http://www.net-link.com/tel/search.asp?q=%22powered+by+telnames.com%22 to show all Telnames .tels gives 2,690 search results, so 89% of Telnames .tel domains (many registered very recently) are already indexed by Google.

Not bad at all for Telnames search visibility. The top 3 positions go to:

    GOLD - http://ThePloughAppleton.tel

    SILVER - http://Trixie.tel

    BRONZE - http://Coffox.tel

Telnames own domain http://Telnames.tel follows the above in P4.

I looked Google search results for "trixie" and at 10 pages (100 results found not trixie_tel.
For a search of the fraze "The Plough Appleton" and "Coffox" yes, I see them both at second place at Google.

    @maxi

Net-Link Tel Search is just that, a .Tel Search Engine, so its results will naturally be different from a search engine that reads ALL extensions.

If you want to do that I have Net-Link Web Search - after any search you can just click the headings above the search box (Web/Video/Facebook/Google+/MySpace/Tel/Twitter) to repeat the search for another option without rekeying.

I'm looking at modifying Net-Link Web Search to search some of the new gTLDs so that it operates in much the same way as Net-Link Tel Search which only searches domains with a ".tel" extension.

Be interested to hear forum members views on which (if any) of the new gTLDs they will be investing their time (as software developers) and money (as domain investors) in ?

Here's the list of proposed new gTLDs - http://newgtlds.icann.org/en/program-status/application-results/strings-1200utc-13jun12-en

    Thanks in anticipation.

Doesn't matter if gTLD, nTLD or ccTLD: only TLDs with more than 10 million registrations

That would be .com, .org and .net, but no nTLD for the next 100 years

That is a fixed and very reliable criteria and my serious opinion

Is it not too early to ask this question?
First we have to see which new gTLDs have potential.
Probably software developers and domain investors stay away from it.
How people want to select and prioritize almost 2,000 new gTLDs at the same time?
First we need to see the business model they offer.
Probably most new gTLDs will have only one difference: the letters behind the dot!

It's not really a feasible option to "wait and see" if you are a domain investor who wants to secure a Premium domain of a new gTLD, since the opportunity to register these will occur on or before the launch date !

The one I am definitely interested in (as a domain investor) is .Taxi - imagine the power that a taxi or minicab firm will wield with the domain name MyLocalTown.taxi

Another potential big seller is .FREE - if you look at the applicants for this gTLD on http://newgtlds.icann.org/en/program-status/application-results/strings-1200utc-13jun12-en they include Amazon and Frank Schilling (the multi-millionaire domain investor).

But as I said I'm interested in forum members opinions - the next 12-24 months are going to present an unrivalled opportunity where fortunes will be both made and lost !

I'm afraid domain investors will be the loser in that game.
Is there any TLD in the world beside .com and ccTLDs anybody can make money with?
Usually the money is made by the registrars only!

Yes there can be - for example Buy.me sold for $148,350 on 10 April 2012 but of course you need to be selective - FWIW here are the Top Domain Sales 2012

    http://MikeSeaton.tel

PS. I know ".me" is technically the ccTLD for Montenegro, but its not treated as that any more but marketed as a global extension.

    That is like playing lottery.
Only if you get lucky, you can sell your .me, .co, .info or .xxx.
The market for such extensions is extremely illiquid.
Most owners of quality names with those extensions can't find any buyer.
It's already very hard to find a buyer for .org or .net.
Counting the number of sales in unpopular extensions will show that the majority of domains were never traded!
How high is the percentage of quality names you can sell with .me or .co? Less than 1 %?

The way I approach investments in extensions like .CO (see http://www.cointernet.co for more details) is to monetise the domains so they produce a real Return On Investment so a capital sale is a bonus, not a prerequisite, for keeping the domain.

Here's an example that works for me - http://www.CoinSales.co

    Thx; sounds reasonable.
Do you earn enough money with this example to cover registration and renewal fees?

Using eBay, AdSense and (sometimes) Amazon monetisation - Of Course !

The problem with .tel domains is that only the Telnic subdomain style are really suitable for monetisation (with inbuilt AdSense, long tail SEO via folders, and third-party add-ons) BUT Telnic .tels are no longer actively marketed and do appear to be on the way out eventually.

And Telnames .tels do not of course offer inbuilt AdSense, folders, or third-party access (without being a VAR) to the domain.

So .tel is no longer as attractive to domain investors and software developers !

I qouted info from that link above and marked which rules will not work with Telnames TELs:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques will get more traffic to your .tel name.

    • Always create a meaningful title for each page of your .tel (no subdomains means no pages)
    • Use header text that matches and enhances your page title
    • Add an icon image to each page and include a title for each image
    • Label your contact information - don't just use default labels like web and note
    • Make use of categories like business name and industry categories
    • Determine long-tail keywords that visitors will use to find your site. (limit of 255 possible characters mean no good meaningful texts available)
    • Create subdomains to match long-tail searches.
    • Get other websites to link to yours. (I think that nobody will make a link to TelNames TEL, because it is nonsense.)
