Interesting article at http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2274513/Google-Targets-Spammy-Queries-Bad-Mobile-Sites-With-New-Ranking-Updates  about Google demoting sites in SERPS that are not mobile friendly. The article also contains the following quote:-

In addition, just as site speed has played a part in Google’s web search ranking algorithm since 2010, you can expect site speed to have an impact on the rankings of mobile sites, Cutts announced at the SMX Advanced conference.

Expect to see those Telnames sites leap up the Google Rankings soon!!

This is a very interesting question!
There are thousands of requirements to reach good search results.
Having a mobile optimized website is only one of them.
The key to success for Telnames will be definitely the discoverability of their websites.
I don’t believe this will happen with better search rankings, because SERPS for .tel are bad in general.
Even if Telnames accomplish to improve this situation a little bit, the results will be only slightly better and not good enough in comparison to a regular website under .com or .org.
Perhaps Telnames will reach good rankings for "My Unique Company Name" (which are quite fine today already), but not for heavily used keywords.
If Telnames want to create a real impact, much more is needed than only one of the many and frequent Google updates.
But this is only my personal point of view.

    @allforummembers

Please post here any examples of Telnames single-page .tels that are ranking on Google Page 1 for POPULAR SEARCH TERMS in the next few weeks.

To check how many monthly searches are made for a query use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool.

    Thanks.

I hate to kill the fun, but I bet every conceivable amount that this won't happen!

@Toptel - You are probably right - but let's see if Matt Cutts planned changes make any difference to Telnames .tel rankings ?

BTW I find it useful to set up a page with preset queries to check SERPS rankings out - see http://searches.mikeseaton.tel - of course you need subdomains (not available at Telnames) to keep this page seperate from your main contact data !

Yes, it's always good to stay positive, but I'm afraid that Matt Cutts and his team have never heard about .tel.
Google doesn't even take part in Telnames Partner Network: http://www.telnames.com/telnames-partner-network (only Bing and Yahoo do).

Telnames seem to have some happy customers re search engine exposure at http://www.telnames.com/testimonials-with-videos/

My guess (I haven't watched the videos yet) is that most searches with good results are of the MyBusinessName type rather than ServiceLocation or LocationService.

Be delighted to be proved wrong !

Interesting fragrance in your post N°5 ...

Mike I visited your subdn, but can you kindly detail a little more what you expect and in which usecase  ?
Is it to have all-ready links to simplify SERPs rankings back checking ?
    Thx

This summer, Google rolled out additional algorithmic changes that actually prioritize search listings of sites that are optimized for mobile over those that aren't when a mobile user is searching.
    http://blog.hubspot.com/buyer-behavior-mobile-marketing-ht
Google says it plans to demote Web sites in mobile search results if they don't work properly on mobile devices. That's a powerful incentive.

Be careful about asking questions to Telnic in public: http://www.teltalk.org/t1442-telnames-shows-humor

You won't get an answer anyway.
