How about the simple approach ? While most Individuals do not have their own website, and do not choose to have one, almost ALL Businesses and Individuals use and appreciate an Internet tool that has forever changed the way that we ALL communicate today. That tool is of course Email, and an Email Address is something that is "owned" by all. Rather than trying to push .TEL as everything that we have so far, why not just coin the phrase that is as simple as the Email Address, so that .TEL is appreciated for exactly what it is ? This way we can show for a FACT how the value of .TEL is more. Let's make this the household term ... |

Thanks ! It's just such an obvious approach to everything that we're all trying to do. Almost everywhere we go someone is asking for our "email address". .TEL has always used phrases like "one address for life" or "single point of contact", etc., but these are definitions. Things tend to catch on when they become a "term", and .TEL isn't the "catching term". TEL is a term for telephone, so many are confused, and unappreciative of what it really is in a ".com world" as new technology. Spread the right term, the obvious term, and now .TEL is the leader as a participating provider of this "email address" approach known as a "master address". May sound a bit different, but ask someone what their "master address" is. They may say something like, "Do you mean my email address ?" "No, your master address. Don't you know what that is ? Mine is xyz.tel" Now suddenly we're getting somewhere because they will need to "catch up" with the new phrase as an individual "owner" of the term. .TEL won't be the only choice, but it will certainly the best choice for the term ! It's just the perfect way to get participation of personally owned .TEL addresses widespread. Critical mass can come with this term, it really can, spread it around and see.[/size] |
I think that with all that is available today versus 2009, the initial thoughts on .TEL may be realized again, here were some thoughts from the past: http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/show...ou-getting-one Push .TEL as a "master address" with Telpages and it can be very good. See again how the Global Directory was a key component of the excitement ? With "master address" terminology and the .TEL / TelPages superiority; Now you're talking ... |
Here was George Moen's take back then: http://www.georgemoen.com/why-i-boug...ill-get-yours/ His "Email tool to A-Hah moment" was the realization of the "master address" power of .TEL Perfect example just found to substantiate the "master address" term as valuable. |
