There are so many possibilities, e. g.:
1.) Offering a limited version of Telnames without domain (instead with a subdomain in the format customername.telnames.tel) and without background picture
2.) Offering .tels including subdomains for a premium price (similar to .tels at other registrars)
3.) A cost-free product with automatic ads and an add-free version for the common registration price
4.) Offering a .tel domain name completely without website only for dialing purposes (only with the ability to administrate up to 3 phone numbers)
Very important would be a cost-free trial for prospects (limited in functionality or timely limited) without the obligation of buying the whole product in the first step.

That's probably the only way left now for .Tel to achieve the essential "critical mass" before the news (as well as software developers time and domain investors money) gets focussed on the 1000+ new gTLDs about to be launched from 2013 onwards !

Have Telnic/Telnames got the bottle to "go for broke" even at this late stage - or will they just hope for the best and carry on as before ?

You are right, they are the possibilities.

But I think that would be arrogant.

It was arrogant to promise to community new templates, and first to publish TELNAMES. Everybody was thinking the new template will look like those on TELNAMES. That is deceitful and selfish, just to gain few sales from those naive TEL domain enthusiasts.

Further, TELNAMES is just one page. To sell subdomains as premium service in comparison to ONE-PAGE tel domain on TELNAMES, would be also very arrogant.

TELNAMES is yet another attempt to get money, and nothing else. It is a commercial company which sells nothing but degraded TEL domains with great background.

And this background feature is not given to standard TEL domain and so it is not given to majority of TEL domain owners.

All in all, people, use the known and standard services, Wordpress.com offers free blog where one can publish ALL HIS CONTACT INFORMATION and be truly accessible on mobile devices. What TEL promises, Wordpress delivers.

About.me offers free website with all your contact information, and with powerful mobile presence, with free business cards, what TEL promises, About.Me delivers.

And so the list of "features" is endless, possibilities are endless. But true results are with other providers, and TEL domain is YET ANOTHER STUPID CMS website. It will remain so.
