iPad MINI screenshot of a .tel

Well the iPad mini renders .tel sites the same as iPad from my early tests
See here...

I'm writing this on iPad mini and I can say after using it for a few hours (then swapping back to iPad)
... that the iPad is up for immediate sale, hand me down, whatever

Ie The mini will be a MASSIVE hit.
Incredibly light, yet it's feeling like I'm using the bigger iPad
Uncanny. Here comes another 100 million additional idevices per year after year after year

dottel.net11-03-2012 05:02 PM

i hadn't realised the ipad mini was out. is it generally available now? just in time for christmas huh?

Boyet, good to see that .tel works perfectly on the mini. As you noted, we still need that image ad click change from Telnic to be super perfect.

little by little, look nicer.
My first domain 3 years old, was very ugly. But now look beautiful, http://aranda.tel http://covarrubias.tel http://caminodelcid.telhttp://arte.tel http://telrural.tel http://caleruega.tel ...

Yes, another huge market of mobile users.
The "click" thread awaits an answer from telnic.

The visual look of what we have been given for the desktop is fine to build out projects.
It's the missing functionality and consistency, particularly extending across to mobile that is hard to understand (features such as inline map or the simple social sharing icons working on telnames for almost 6 months???)

Perhaps background images too is coming soon to the desktop templates.
Perhaps a mobile update is coming soon.
Not putting much time in though.
Let's hear about the very simple "click" request

Yes. It's on sale for 3 or 4 days in 35 countries already. Selling out everyday.
I have told all family and friends to sell their bigger iPads ASAP because they are like BRICKS. It's uncanny using the mini, it honestly feels like IT IS THE BIGGER IPAD.

...and in saying that, I mean that the padding area around the bigger iPad screen will surely be scrapped in the next run of the ipad5 (I'm guessing a really fast refresh is due early march/April 13 that will reduce the physical size and weight of ipad5 yet increase the screen real estate)

Yet another step along the way to making even laptops a thing of the past, and being able to hold in 1 hand your workspace, magazine, whatever. Holding in your hand. Everything. That mobile enough for you mr.blunderer?

dutchstreetdog11-04-2012 01:57 PM

Is there already a jailbreak for the mini ?

dutchstreetdog11-04-2012 02:02 PM

It renders it just like a pc ?!
That should bey diffrent, just like on a iPhone !
Then you can always change it !
I dont now if you can change desktop version to mobile
But you can change mobile to desktop
So looks not good to mi :-)

I must disagree with that statement.
Forget about .tel being fastest DNS speedy delivery technology zero graphics
It doesn't matter anymore. That zero graphics concept was almost 4 years ago.

The smartphone is all graphics all the time.
And the BILLIONS of apple mobile devices alone should tell you what the market expects TODAY. It's graphical, and they want it SMOOTH.

iPad mini is perfectly correct to display the desktop version.

dutchstreetdog11-04-2012 02:41 PM

Hello boracay
Ok, so that means that you dont like the mobile version ?
That means the iPhone shouldt also display desktop version ?

Can you put it in your trouser pocket, a small handbag, or clip it to your belt?

We need to consider "convenient" and "utility", as well as "mobile" - and design our sites for that - the lowest common denominator .........a mobile phone.

Everything else is opportunistic.

My constant thought is "how will the people I want to use my sites access and view them today , and under what circumstances?"

We know that changing the appearance of a .tel is as easy as changing your shirt - take off one template and put on a different one. I acknowledge that most members are frustrated by the limited choice of shirts in the wardrobe but, at the moment, I only need a couple of Tee shirts - that's what my customers wear.

As websites go, though, I'll admit that boracay.tel on and iPad Mini looks good. :D

I think the current mobile template needs MAJOR overhaul.
Take a look at telnames mobile as comparison.
And templates should have matching theme.

The iPhone5 just about nails things size wise as a phone. I want my phone to fit in my pocket. So yes, that means a smaller mobie version is still needed, ie being a legible template without zooming (due to the size of the screen)

supercyberheroes11-04-2012 04:37 PM

It's not dated and missing things. Before .tel you could have a website or a .mobi, or an app. None of these can be populated out of the box by the average man in the street yet present such a functional display of communication links and keywords on both mobile and larger screen.

Worth a read to see what current (3 million in 3 days) and the projected 48 million people using this device (by this time next year)will use to see your .tel ...extract "Because the iPad mini is a scaled down iPad, and not a scaled up smartphone, it also presents a very different experience..."

Times that by these millions of users
(I promise that's the last time I point out millions and billions)

You forgot the one from Telnames.
Just one better one that already exists, throw in the colour schemes we have each themed our desktop sites. Add search. Done.
