    Problem

    Do you guys know what happened?
    I can not see a map on my telephone and when I try it on my computer it works ok.
    Is this another "improvement" done by Telnic ?
    It is embarrasing when you go to a business and show them how easy they can be found by just clicking on map and nothing happens

    dutchstreetdog08-28-2012 06:40 AM

    Well map works fine here on iPhone

    Blunderer08-28-2012 11:21 AM

    @Sumerlin,

    From experience, it's more likely to be the map provider changing things. Send Aled a message with details of your phone, so that he can check.

    tindaya08-29-2012 02:51 PM

    I have a similar problem from several months ago. I have android, galaxy SII. I see the map, but doesn't work my ubication. Several months ago, this work perfect, now doesn't work

    Aled08-29-2012 03:52 PM

    Tindaya, is that for any .tel? Can you explain more about the issue please?

    tindaya08-29-2012 11:16 PM

    I think is for all .tel, and the problem is the google maps used to mobile in the .tel. The google maps is useful with the 3 step:

    1.-go to .tel, click in ubication and give the ubication of the business. That work perfect

    2.- With the google maps open, click in "my ubication" and the google maps look for your ubication (GPS or Mobile station). This with the google map that open the .tel, doesn`t work, but with other google maps, work fine.

    3.- I know the ubication of the business, and I know my ubication, so I click in "how to arrive". This doesn´t work with the google maps that open the .tel, but work with another google maps.

    THIS THREE STEPS, TWO MONTHS AGO I EXPLAINED TO THE PEOPLE, AND I ALWAYS SAID, IS PERFECT AND EASY, FOR THAT EL .TEL WILL BE THE FUTURE, BUT FROM ONE MONTH, IN MY MOBILE ANDROID, GALAXY SII, DOESN´T WORK. I TESTED WITH ANOTHER MOBILE ANDROID GALAXY SII AND DOESN´T WORK. AND IN THE SAME MOBILE, I HAVE INSTALLED THE GOOGLE MAPS, AND WORK FINE HOW TO FIND MY UBICATION. SO, NOT IS A PROBLEM OF THE MOBILE, I THINK THE PROBLEM IS THAT IS DIFERENT ONE GOOGLE MAPS TO MOBILE, THAT THE OTHER GOOGLE MAPS TO .TEL (VERSION???, YOUT PROXY FILTER SOME DATA??? I DON´T KNOW)

    I test it with the ubication of the http://covarrubias.tel but I think is for all domains

    Aled08-30-2012 09:47 AM

    Thanks for the additional details.

    It seems that on Android devices Google shows a different version of the map depending on the actual device and it's capabilities. Once the map is opened we have no control over that and it is down to Google and the actual device. Having said that, however, we have tested on a Galaxy SIII and are not able to replicate your issues i.e. we can navigate to etc using that. Could it possibly be an issue with the Google Map that is being opened using the GPS on your handset to get the location?

    Does anyone else have a Galaxy SII to see if they also get this issue?

    Sumerlin09-06-2012 07:29 PM

    I own Motorola with Android and can not see the map ( all. tels )

    Aled, I would like to suggest that for apple devices .tel switch automatically to the brilliant NEW apple maps. (half the world is now on apple iOS devices)
    google mapping has been REMOVED by DEFAULT by APPLE on all apple devices.

    Maps is a very important part of .tel, and it needs to work smoothly and seamlessly on mobile devices, and apple has specifically stated that they are no longer using google mapping on the apple iPhones.

    Thank you for considering this in a future iPhone proxy update.[/size]

    TELcp09-07-2012 05:26 AM

    Yes, the map on iPhone is a very important issue.
    Needs attention urgently.

    Yep I'm seeing some problems.
    I got a 504 gateway error on bali.tel. But my partners telnames is fine Trixie.tel
    I found this info on google about 504 error...

    Cause of 504 Gateway Timeout Errors

    The 504 Gateway Timeout error is an HTTP status code that means that one server did not receive a timely response from another server that it was accessing while attempting to load the web page or fill another request by the browser.

    This usually means that the other server is down or not working properly.

    How To Fix the 504 Gateway Timeout Error

    The 504 Gateway Timeout error is usually a network error between servers on the Internet or an issue with an actual server, meaning the problem is not with your PC or Internet connection.Even though the issue is not yours to troubleshoot or resolve, there are a few things you can do:

    Retry the web page by clicking the refresh/reload button or trying the URL from the address bar again. Even though the 504 Gateway Timeout error is reporting an error outside of your control, the error might only be temporary.

    Come back later. Since the 504 Gateway Timeout error message is an issue with the web site's network or a server that it communicates with, everyone visiting this site is probably experiencing the same problem as you.

    Chances are an issue like that has already been brought to the attention of an administrator at the web site and someone is working to resolve it.

    If you can't wait any longer for the problem to be resolved or if you'd like to help out, you may want to attempt to contact the webmaster or another website contact yourself and advise them of the 504 Gateway Timeout error you are receiving.[/size]

    Aled11-28-2012 10:00 AM

    We are currently investigating this issue and I'll provide you with an update as soon as I can.

    Thanks for raising this @boracay.

    This is a critical issue going forward.

    Do you have any information on this Aled and what plans there are to address (no pun intended!) the issue.[/size]

    I have seen some sporadic loading off and on for the past few hours. At this very moment, boracay.tel and bali.tel (telnic directory style) are both offline. Trixie.tel (telnames) is fine and has had zero problems Aled over the exact same timeframe.[/size]

    tindaya11-28-2012 03:17 PM

    Now is Ok.
    I think this night have been I big problem with all DNSs. Is my opinion

    Yes some still slow, and as above with boracayhotels, links hang.
    BTW Aled did Telnic detect this first, or did we have to tell you?
    Mark

    Mark Kolb (Kprobe)11-28-2012 04:07 PM

    justin.tel doesnt resolve
    The connection has timed out
    The server at www.justin.tel is taking too long to respond.

    dutchstreetdog11-28-2012 04:26 PM

    Gentleman gentlemen pls forget the problem and move over to my augmented reality stuff !

    Aled11-28-2012 05:11 PM

    Mark - our monitors had picked this up before it was mentioned on here.

    Mark, Boracay - can you try accessing a .tel that you haven't tried yet today, so that we can rule out cacheing at any stage on the network path please. Can you also send me the IP addresses that you are using if you are continuing to see the issue please?

    Mark Kolb (Kprobe)11-28-2012 09:08 PM

    working now, but don't see how caching should be an issue unless you switched servers or something. Still end users and google should never have to see this.
    Mark

    boracay.tel11-29-2012 12:22 AM

    Good morning from boracay!
    All appears ok now.

    Mark Kolb (Kprobe)11-29-2012 02:46 AM

    @Aled, right now 702.tel is not rendering on one machine
    The connection has timed out
    The server at www.702.tel is taking too long to respond.
    and on the other took 30 seconds to come up.
    IP 174.112.25.71

    Aled11-29-2012 07:27 AM

    Mark, as mentioned in my mail, could you let us know which node you are hitting please? If anyone else is experiencing this issue can you also let me know please.

    Mark Kolb (Kprobe)11-29-2012 07:46 AM

    alternates between
    Code:
    <base href="http://s1.webproxy.nic.tel" />
    <base href="http://s0.webproxy.nic.tel" />

    Mark Kolb (Kprobe)11-29-2012 07:50 AM

    just did basements.tel was very slow, 7 seconds
    Code:
    <base href="http://s0.webproxy.nic.tel" />

    refresh and quick
    seems to be first time a new domain or subdomain is accessed is slow
    then sometimes never loads

    Mark Kolb (Kprobe)11-29-2012 07:53 AM

    18 seconds to load 613.tel
    Code:
    <base href="http://s1.webproxy.nic.tel" />

    778.tel came up quick
    browsed one folder, quick
    browsed a different one, Timed Out
    completely random

    [size]
    Yep, I'm sorry to report the exact same finding...
    It's similar to yesterday, random results, and I am also testing via 2 very different Internet providers for boracay. They have different dns servers and different routes to telnic.[/size]

    Aled11-29-2012 08:07 AM

    Boracay, can you also let us have your IP and the node that you are hitting when it does resolve. This can be seen in the view source as the "base href" e.g.:

    Code:
    <base href="http://d1.webproxy.nic.tel" />
